These beautifully hand blown and hand painted Christmas decorations are made in the village of Lauscha in Germany. Lauscha was the glass blowing capital of Europe dating back to the 1500's. Rich folk used to bring a fir tree into their homes on Christmas Eve and hang oranges and apples on it. The glass blowers were too poor to hang precious food on a tree so they used to make replicas out of scrap glass in their spare time. The trend caught on and the Christmas bauble was born.
To this day, one of the original factories still remains, where skilled craftsmen and women, blow these beautiful figurines. They are then lined inside with sterling silver and carefully hand painted on the outside. Over the years these unique Christmas decorations have become quite a collectors piece.
These decorations particularly compliment a Christmas Tree decorated in traditional white and frosted colours. Adding a few of these Krebs decorations to the outside branches of your tree at the finishing stages offers a real sense of opulence and luxury.
